ARCEP Engineering Signs Sub-Consultancy Agreement with Studio Pietrangeli (SP) Of Italy

ARCEP Engineering is pleased to announce the signing of a Sub-consultancy Agreement with Studio Pietrangeli (SP) of Italy in the spirit of the Letter of Association that both companies signed earlier in March 2020. The signing follows the successful bid of Studio Pietrangeli in the tender for the Feasibility Study and Preparation of Bidding Documents for WAPP 330kV Double Circuit Median Interconnection Project and the formal award of the consultancy services contract to SP by the West African Power Pool (WAPP).

The Sub-consultancy Agreement dated 26th March 2021 assigns the following two activities to ARCEP:

  • Data Collection in Nigeria (from public or private entities/agencies):

This task involves collecting information on existing studies and meteorological and hydrological data. It also involves visits to the relevant existing substations and the tentative location of the new substation, collating related laws and regulations of Nigeria, liaison with the national electricity operators, etc.

  • Supervision of Site Investigations:

This task entails Geological and Geotechnical investigations along the selected line route that cuts across Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire.

ARCEP Engineering’s responsibilities cover the following areas:

  • Supervise the site activities of the Subcontractor hired to undertake the geological and geotechnical investigations;
  • Ensure the Subcontractor carries out the activities according to his subcontract with SP and in particular with the Terms of Reference of the WAPP Contract;
  • Guarantee the presence on site of the professional to supervise the borehole drilling and in-situ tests;
  • Update SP weekly on the progress of the investigations and promptly advise SP of any critical situation that may arise during the works;
  • Lastly, prepare the relevant technical report. Both parties are to agree upon its minimum content.
